Headin for higher ground

River's s'posed to crest at Henry on Thursday at 32 feet....in Peoria on Friday at 27.3. We're halfway between, so it'll be around 28 here. Which'll put roughly two feet of water in our yard.

Our basement'll be full. The plumber's comin at 7:30 in the morning to take the hot water heater out and move it up to our deck, so we won't have hot water. Since we're on a well, we're not sure about the water pump...if it's high enough or not...so we might not have any water, period. We'll be cut off from the main road. We might be able to walk in, but neither of us have chest waders...and I'm thinkin that ole river water'll be chilly enough to freeze the balls off a brass monkey.

We got the stuff moved up from the yard tonight. Thankfully, we didn't have a lot. But our neighbors...oooo, boy...they've got full basements and garages, so we'll be helpin them out tomorrow and tomorrow night. I'll need to add to my emergency stash of water, head to the store and stock up...don't wanna hafta wade though two feet of water with sacks full of groceries...and maybe pack up a bag or two...just in case.

This tree, which is about 30 feet tall, is normally on dry beach, about 10-12 feet from the edge of the river.

Yea, sometimes livin on the river is a huuuge pain in the ass. But then, there's this...

...and that kinda makes it worth it.

Hey...maybe I can fish right off the deck? How cool would that be? heh
