Over the hump
I think yesterday was probably the worst day. When I went to bed last night, the water in our back foyer was up at the very top of the last riser coming into the house. We literally had about an inch or less to go before we'd have been walking around in squishy carpeting. This morning, it looks like it hasn't gotten any higher.
I think we have a crest!
We've still got a long way to go before we're back to "normal"...but we're hangin.
On the health front, the jaw's better. I no longer look like a hamster with a wad of food in the side of his mouth. It's still quite painful, but I think the major antibiotics I'm takin are doin what they're supposed to.
Da Zigster just headed out in the SS Minnow to make a staples run. Pretty funny, actually. And quite an ordeal, too. But hey...ya do whatcha gotta.
'Course we still don't have hot water...or a toilet. Hell, don't even have a drain that works properly...("water seeks it's own level" according to Da Zigster's lesson in physics)...so stuff like bathing...washing dishes...gettin a drink of water...are still obstacles to overcome.
Makes ya really appreciate all the modern conveniences we do have, lemme tell ya.
But with a bit of planning, a little ingenuity, a positive attitude (well..most of the time) and a lotta pure, dumb luck, we're doin ok.
And it's a beautiful day.
