Geta...geta....GETAWAY!

In May, we're planning on going on our first big vacation in several years...Yippee!...several days in Savannah and several on Tybee Island.

Anyone from that area or been on vacation there? Any suggestions, tips, hints?

We're really not your traditional touristas...except I do wanna check out Paula Deen's restaurant.(So shoot me.) But we're mostly into the off-the-beaten-path, quirky and unusual.

I figure we'll spend most of our in-town time in the historic district, down by the river somewhere.

Isn't it gorgeous? Can't wait!

If you want a quirky fun motel, check out the Thunderbird Inn!
We enjoyed breakfast on Tybee at the Breakfast Club and we had a great meal at the River House in Savannah (pecan crusted tilapia and deeeelish cheese grits).
Have a great time!

Send an email to Elisson. One of his daughters lived in Savannah for quite a while and he and SWMBO know a ton of great places to eat there.

Hey, Pammy..was there about 7 years ago..spent week on Tybee/Savannah. Go up in the lighthouse on Tybee and do the ghost tour in Savannah. I blogged about some of the dining.

I wouldn't waste my time at Paula Deen's restaurant. If you want something typically Savannahian, take a meal instead at Mrs. Wilkes' Dining Room on Jones Street. Also be sure to hit Back in the Day Bakery - their 'nana pudding is not to be missed.
